Essence Magazine is an inspirational magazine for African American women that encourages them to lead bold and fulfilling lives.

First published in 1970 as a fashion magazine, Essence has expanded to cover beauty advice, lifestyle topics, relationship advice, and social issues in the African American community. Each issue now counts as a monthly celebration of the African American experience, dedicated to encouraging her passions and dreams. Magazine covers feature celebrities, sometimes men, but more often black women.

In addition to the articles featured in each issue, the magazine's content is organized into the following sections: Style, Beauty and Hair, News and Culture, Sex and Love, Work and Wealth, and Body and Spirit. Regular features in these sections include: Style Hunters, searching for must-have trends; "Street Style" - presented by the reader photographs of women who look in a new way; "Books" - monthly book recommendation; 10 Things We Talk About, a collection of 10 hot topics; Single Man of the Month, a profile of one of the single men featured; and Career News on how to navigate common office mistakes.

Essence may release several special editions throughout the year, such as Body Release, Men's Release, Readers Release, and others, covering seasonal fashion previews, the annual Black Beauty Awards and the annual Women of the Year. 10 physical issues were mailed, one issue is considered a double issue, that is, a subscription to 11 issues.

Cover price is $ 3.99 per issue, current renewal rate is 6 issues at $ 20 each. Essence, published by Essence Ventures, LLC, is currently published 6 times a year. Your first issue will ship in 6-8 weeks.

Frequency of publication of all magazines is subject to change without prior notice. Additional double issues may be published and count as 2 issues.
