A new era. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry smiled in their first official portrait since the couple stepped down from their senior royal duties in March.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle: a timeline of their relationship
The black and white photo was taken by photographer Matt Sales, who captured the couple at their home in Montecito, California, before appearing for the Time100 Talks special.
In the picture, 39-year-old Markle was captured in a candid moment when she laughed while sitting in a chair. Harry, 36, sat down on the arm of a chair and smiled at the camera. Alum Suits opted for a classic look with a blazer, white t-shirt and dark pants, resting an arm on her husband's leg. The former military pilot kept the simplicity of his equipment: a simple suit, an Oxford shirt with buttons and no tie.
The couple announced their intention to step down as senior royals in January before they officially end their duties in March. The duo moved with their 17-month-old son Archie to California, where they bought a home in Santa Barbara in June for $ 14.65 million.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be hosting a series of Time100 Talks on Tuesday October 20 with guests Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, Rappler CEO Maria Ressa and hosts of the Teenager Therapy podcast, which featured Harry and Meghan earlier this month.
